Work in progress!
Welcome
Welcome to the Digital library of the Erzbischöflichen Diözesan- und Dombibliothek Köln.
Here you have access to:
- current publications from the Archdiocese’s office and its departments that are available in digital form—for example, the Gazette of the Archdiocese of Cologne
- numerous articles and publications from the Cologne Diocesan and Cathedral Library’s series "Libelli Rhenani" and the journal "Analecta Coloniensia"
- selected writings and collections from the Diocesan and Cathedral Library’s historical holdings (retrospective digitizations), focusing primarily on the Church in Cologne and its history
- medieval manuscripts from the Diocesan and Cathedral Library digitized as part of the CEEC project (formerly available at www.ceec.uni-koeln.de)
The collections are continuously expanded and updated.
Due to data protection and/or copyright regulations, some publications are only accessible via the Archdiocese of Cologne’s intranet or at the digital reading station within the library premises.
For many books and articles, it is possible to search for keywords within the full text.

The digitized copies are stored on an in-house server (hosted by the IT service provider ECKD). Title metadata is automatically recorded in the HBZ union catalog using the “scantoweb” digitization workflow. The Visual Library software from semantics Kommunikationsmanagement GmbH is used to present and manage the digitized copies.
Another project partner is Walter Nagel GmbH & Co. KG. Long-term archiving of the digitized copies is handled by a DMS/LZA system from PDV-Systeme GmbH.
