Zustand und Zusammensetzung

Lagenstruktur
[1], i8-1 (lacks one at front), ii-ix8, x8-1 (lacks one after 6th [77], no loss to text), [1]. In last quire, incorrect collation notes by 20c hand take the last folio of ix as first of x and assume last quire was originally x10, with a second leaf lost at end. ¶ Signatures II-X, with II and VII-X in lower left corner between bounding lines, others in center of lower margin (last verso).

Written space: 225 mm x 151-165 mm 29 lines ff. 1-7, 72-78; 33 lines ff. 8-71. ¶ Long lines. Dry-point ruling, double bounding lines, top and bottom pairs of text lines extend to edge of page and across gutter prickings mostly trimmed off, still apparent ff. 65-71 at edge of page text above top line. Some running titles (book number) added by contemporary hand.

  • Decorated "C" on f. 2v, 8 lines (foliate interlace, in red, acacia, green, blue and tan);
  • 4-line red "E" on f. 1r, pen-decorated in light brown wash with scroll work (perhaps added later);
  • 4- to 5-line red initials ff. 25v and 50v;
  • 3-line red initials for the 37 capitula;
  • incidental initials stroked with red or alternating red and brown;
  • tituli in red rustic capitals, mixed majuscules, or minuscules (f. 2r alternate lines red and brown);
  • colophon in red rustic capitals washed over with green;
  • first lines in rustic capitals.

Hinzufügungen

Marginal and interlinear corrections and notes by various contemporary hands. Some passages repeated in margin by 15c hand.
