Zustand und Zusammensetzung

Zustand
16 quires missing from front of codex, probably lost to the fire that also badly damaged the first 21 extant folia, which progress from narrow strips near binding for first few leaves to more complete pages with holes. Dark staining on many folia, esp. f. 135 to end.
Lagenstruktur
[1] i-vi8, vii6, viii-xiii8, xiv8-1 (lacks original 4th, after f. 105), xv-xxii8, xxiii4, [1]. Quires i-vii signed R-Z (originally quires xvii-xxiii); viii-xxii signed XXIIII-XXXVIII.
Seiteneinrichtung
Written space: 238 mm x 152 mm ( 69 mm each column, 14 mm between columns). 26 lines. 2 columns. Dry-point ruling, double bounding lines at outer margin and gutter, three lines between columns prickings at inner bounding line of outermost pair (at outer edge of text). text above top line. A few running titles.

Schrift und Hände

littera carolina. One hand, except for addition f. 177v, which is 10c 1/2.

Named scribe: Cosmas. Scribal colophon, 177r: (in tironian notes) "Ego Cosmas scripsi et finiuit istos libros in p .ka" (prophetas?) (see Colophons I, 3193; see Neues Archiv 12, p. 113 [not seen]; cf. Köln, Dombibl. 104, f. 118 ).

Buchschmuck

  • 4- to 8-line decorated or pen-decorated initials (simple plaitwork, foliate or outline);
  • tituli in uncials, except f. 142r-v in rustic capitals, sometimes rubricated.

Hinzufügungen

Occasional tironian notes in margins.

Geschichte der Handschrift

Provenienz
This ms. is probably identical with Decker's number 45 in the catalogue of 833, if we may presume that the missing quires at the front of the codex included the commentary on Joel.
